October 13th, 2024
On Sunday, October 13th, our fourth day of the trip began with a small breakfast at Whites City Cavern Inn.
After that, we packed our luggage and headed to Carlsbad Caverns National Park by bus. Once there, we split into five groups, each accompanied by an adult, and walked down into the chilly cave. At a depth of 750 feet (230 meters), our group saw the fantastic stone formations in the dripstone caves, each uniquely lit and shaped.
When we finished exploring, we took the elevator back to the surface. After such a great experience, we had lunch on the bus since no food was allowed in the cave. We then drove three hours to the Quality Inn & Suites, our second hotel of the trip.
In the evening, we went to an Italian restaurant for dinner, where we all enjoyed pizza, while others opted for pasta and salads. At that point, our budget was pretty tight due to all the amazing adventures we’d had, so we all stuck to water.
Finally, we walked back to the hotel and settled in for the night. Looking back, our time in the National Park may have been short, but it was definitely worth it.
