October 11th, 2024
On October 11th, we set out on our GAPP Trip to New Mexico and West Texas. We gathered at our high school around 7:30 AM, and the bus arrived shortly after. After taking a quick picture with the principal, Mr. Perry, we loaded our bags and took our seats next to our exchange partners. By 8 AM, we were on our way!
Our first pit stop came two hours into the journey, where we stocked up on snacks, drinks, and took bathroom breaks. Back on the bus, some of us were glued to our screens while others enjoyed the ever-changing scenery. The landscape gradually shifted to a dry desert with shrubs, signaling that we were heading deeper into the Southwest.
After a couple more hours on the road, we crossed the state line into New Mexico and made our way to Whites City, where we would be staying at the Whites City Cavern Inn. With four people sharing a room, it was cozy! After unpacking, we set off on an exciting shopping adventure.
We hit Walmart, splitting into six groups, each tasked with gathering essentials: bread, fruit, drinks, cheese, and more. With our carts overflowing, we loaded everything into coolers on the bus and then headed to La Patrona Mexican Street Food by the highway. There, we enjoyed delicious burritos, enchiladas, and tacos. Stuffed and satisfied, we returned to the hotel.
