The last hours before our return flight to Germany on Sunday, 27th October 2024 were filled with emotions and unforgettable moments. After three wonderful weeks in Texas, where we truly felt at home, it was finally time to say goodbye. Our host families welcomed us warmly in the morning, and we made the most of our last few hours together—whether it was over a final breakfast, a walk, or simply sharing memories and laughs one last time.
Our time in Texas was packed with experiences that we’ll never forget. One of the biggest highlights was our group trip to New Mexico, where we explored the stunning White Sands National Park, ventured through the impressive caves, and went on a memorable hike. We also attended high school football and basketball games, dared to enter haunted houses, and shared so many adventures. Through it all, not only did the German and American students form close bonds, but we Germans also grew even closer to each other.
At the airport, emotions ran high, and no one could hold back their tears. As we hugged each other goodbye, we felt how much these weeks had brought us together.
