Day 19: Pep Rally and a Big Football Win

Thursday, the 24th of October, was a pretty eventful day here in Texas. We arrived at the same time as always and went through the first three periods as usual.

During the second period, we had a fire drill that was similar to the one we have in Germany. Afterward, we were asked to get our student IDs and head to the gym for the long awaited pep-rally which is sort of an assembly before a sporting event.

When we arrived, all of the seats were filled and the gym was overflowing with energy showcasing the infectious school spirit. The orchestra greeted us with a performance, and the cheerleaders, all dressed in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, performed an impressive choreography. Not only did the school mascot make an appearance but also the silvorados, the JROTC, the LULAC as well as a record holder in cross country.

The captains from the various sports teams like the volleyball team or the football team were also introduced and once the gathering ended, we returned to our classes to finish the day.

In the evening  the Guyer Varsity Boys Football team won their game against Little Elm High School by a score of 49-21.
